Andras Schiff to give first masterclass for young musicians in Russia

On May, 20 from 10:00 to 13:00 one of the most renowned pianists in the world Andras Schiff will give a masterclass in the conference hall of the St Petersburg Conservatory. This is the first and so far the only masterclass of the maestro in Russia.

Best students of the 3rd and 4th year from special piano faculty of the St Petrersburg Conservatory have been entrusted to participate in the masterclass – they are Sergey Red’kin, Vera Salikhova, and Stanislav Chigadaev.

The masterclass will take place within Andras Schiff’s visit to Russia where he will give just two concerts: on May, 19 in St Petersburg and on May, 21 in Moscow. Organizing the performances and masterclass is the Musical Olympus Foundation that has enjoyes many years of cooperation and friendship with the maestro. At the Foundation’s invitation Andras Schiff frequently visits Russia and is a member of the the Honorary Committee of the Musical Olympus Festival.

Since its establishment, the Foundation has placed special focus on community efforts, including awareness raising. Therefore masterclasses of renowned musicians and participants of the Musical Olympus Festival for the students of St Petersburg Conservatory are becoming a good tradition.
